Westonbirt is a wonderful garden, full of surprises and part of a complete landscape that was the vision of Robert Holford, who used the most fashionable designers and architects of the day and exploited the most up to date technologies. It is an exceptionally rich resource for learning and the documentary evidence not only reveals the process of design and development, but also the character and thinking of the man who made it. For visitors, it is the opportunity to see a hidden gem – the most important piece of the Westonbirt landscape jigsaw that has been largely hidden from view.
JHA’s Activity Plan supported a Round 2 NLHF bid to conserve and restore the Garden’s structures, strengthen links to the wider estate and Arboretum and to open the Gardens more frequently to the public, who will be able to enjoy events and activities along with benefitting from learning, volunteering and training opportunities.
