Brymbo Steelworks near Wrexham in North Wales closed in 1990. Employing over 2,500 people at its peak, the site has a heritage of iron working that goes back to the 18th century. More than that, the site sits on top of a 300 million year old fossil forest, only discovered when the site was being cleared. Plans include opening up the whole site for visitors. Julia Holberry Associates have written the Interpretation Plan for the site and mentored the staff in writing an Activity Plan in support of their Round 2 bid to NLHF.
Brymbo received its NLHF Round 2 funding of £4 million in March 2020.
