Kent Mining Museum has been awarded £1.3m from the NLHF, supported by an Activity Plan written by JHA. The Museum is to be housed in a new, state-of-the-art visitor centre at Betteshanger Park, on the site of the former Betteshanger Colliery.

It will contain a unique collection of oral history, archives and artefacts, many of which would otherwise be in danger of being lost forever. The Museum will work closely with two existing miners’ heritage centres and be supported by an extensive volunteer programme and a wide range of activities including STEM challenge projects, creation of Memory Boxes, biodiversity events and outreach to schools.

The project has successfully secured £1.3 million from the NLHF.
