Alison is an experienced heritage professional who works across a broad range of organisations including museums, parks and gardens, industrial sites, churches, arts centres and historic buildings. She specialises in developing learning strategies, consultation, activity development and project evaluation. A qualified secondary teacher, Alison has taught 11-18 years old, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and currently tutors for the Open University.
Alison is a NLHF Expert Advisor and project mentor for public engagement and a learning consultant for Royal Parks. Formerly Education Unit Manager at the Science Museum, Alison was responsible for the ongoing development and management of the popular interactive galleries, 70+ staff, the establishment of an outreach department, development of learning resources and visits by over 300,000 schoolchildren per annum. Her voluntary roles include Chair of Trustees for a children’s charity, primary and secondary school governor, editor of GEM (Group for Education in Museums) News and a committee member for the British Interactive Group.
