Whitchurch Silk Museum has appointed Julia Holberry Associates to mentor the preparation of their ‘Preserving the Fabric’ Audience Development Plan.
The Museum hopes that NLHF funding will help it conserve and refurbish the Mill buildings and historic textile machinery to demonstrate silk making on a daily basis, making it more accessible and welcoming. A new exhibition will tell the fascinating story of the Mill, of silk and silk weaving, and of water power to a wider range of visitors. New stimulating learning opportunities for all ages will be developed and the grounds will be improved to encourage chalk stream wildlife. A redesigned shop and café will maximise commercial opportunities.
